In-depth Advanced Techniques Training

What Is WhyTry?

The WhyTry Program is a strength-based approach to helping youth overcome their challenges and improve outcomes in the areas of truancy, behavior, and academics.  It is based on sound, empirical principles, including Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Social and Emotional Intelligence, and multi-sensory learning.

New Advanced Techniques Training:

Training is a one-day event designed for professionals who have been trained or been using the WhyTry Program and are ready for new skills and ideas to work through challenges in the classroom. Strategies transfer to teaching skills outside of WhyTry as well.  They include useful ideas about framing lessons, running activities, and surrendering the one-up relationship. Techniques will be demonstrated, such as setting the tone of the class, creating a positive responsive atmosphere, and purposeful language tips.  Effective time and group management techniques will be discussed along with detailed models of procedures.

Key Benefits of Attending

  • Walk away with practical tools that engage and motivate youth
  • Trainings are appropriate for all grade levels, corrections and mental health professionals
  • “A terrific investment-Thank You!” Judy Kerner   “Great Program. It is just what today’s youth is yearning for, the tools to succeed in life,” Gregg Markwardt

Results to help youth

The WhyTry program has reduced truancy, improved academics, and changed the climate of schools throughout the U.S.  Research shows students report an increased internal locus of control, students’ willingness to “keep trying to succeed, and fewer social problems.  A recent analysis in one district showed that it tripled the graduation rate of at-risk students.

Who Uses WhyTry?

WhyTry is currently used by counselors, social workers, teachers, and administrators in over 10,000 schools, and  mental health and correctional facilities in 50 states.  WhyTry is changing the lives of youth with a wide variety of backgrounds and challenges in the U.K., Canada, and Australia.
