Meet Our Esteemed Panelists
With a 40-year career dedicated to breaking down barriers and fostering belonging, Glen Hoffmann is a respected leader in alternative education. His experience spans roles as a teacher, special education director, and leader at both state and national levels. As a past president of both the Illinois Coalition for Education of At-Risk Youth (ICEARY) and the National Alternative Education Association (NAEA), Glen has played a key role in shaping the future of alternative education, making his insights invaluable for all educators.
Scott McMullen brings over thirty years of experience as an educator and administrator, with the last thirteen years as the director of an alternative high school in Missouri. His work at the SCOPE Alternative Education Program has focused on creating a therapeutic school culture that equips students with essential life skills such as self-regulation, coping, and self-efficacy. Scott’s passion for preparing students for life beyond high school makes him a powerful advocate for the application of alternative education strategies in all educational settings.
With a focus on DEI practices and trauma-informed principles, Dr. Mary Cullen Frazier has led transformative programs in alternative education. Her work is grounded in extensive research and experience, aiming to support marginalized student populations through innovative educational practices.
Jason is a licensed school psychologist and has published research on resilience and student performance. Jason is a passionate advocate for disadvantaged students and currently consults and trains educators across the nation as the director of training and research for the WhyTry organization. Jason is a thought leader on resilience education and has spoken at hundreds of conferences around the country. He has led successful implementations of all WhyTry programs and has pioneered trainings for clients in healthcare, corporate, and the US Military.
