Meet Our Esteemed Panelists

Briana Garza

Briana Garza is a dedicated professional with a passion for supporting youth and communities. She earned her BA in Psychology from Vanguard University and has been working with elementary-aged students since 2015. With a diverse background in case management and data entry at a mental health clinic, Briana has developed a well-rounded skill set in both education and mental health support.

Currently in her second year as a Prevention Specialist with the Tulare County Office of Education’s Choices Program, Briana serves as a specialist for the Children of Promise Project. Briana is deeply committed to creating positive outcomes for young people, equipping teachers and schools with the resources they need to foster a supportive learning environment.

Rene Solis

Rene is a Program Facilitator with CHOICES Prevention Programs, for Tulare County Office of Education.  He has dedicated over 20 years to education, specializing in mental health, suicide prevention, and social-emotional learning for children and adolescents. Much of his work has focused on supporting underprivileged youth, addressing the unique challenges they face, and ensuring they have access to critical resources and emotional support. Rene’s extensive experience includes collaborating with school districts and communities to promote mental wellness, provide critical interventions, and implement programs that foster emotional resilience and awareness. He is passionate about making a lasting impact on the well-being of all students, particularly those in underserved communities, by creating supportive environments that encourage open discussions around mental health and well-being.

Jason Johnson

Jason is a licensed school psychologist and has published research on resilience and student performance.  Jason is a passionate advocate for disadvantaged students and currently consults and trains educators across the nation as the director of training and research for the WhyTry organization. Jason is a thought leader on resilience education and has spoken at hundreds of conferences around the country. He has led successful implementations of all WhyTry programs and has pioneered trainings for clients in healthcare, corporate, and the US Military.
